Mansfield named as chairman of Rajar
LONDON - David Mansfield, the former chief executive of Capital Radio, has been named as chairman of Rajar, the radio industry’s audience research body.
Mansfield has kept a low profile in the sector since he left GCap Media in September 2005 following the merger between Capital and GWR that formed GCap.
In May 2006, he joined the advisory and investment firm Ingenious Media as executive director and in the past year has been involved in four radio licence applications for Absolute Radio, winning the licence for Oxford.
He is also a non-executive director of The Carphone Warehouse.
During his career, Mansfield has been on the board of both the Commerical Radio Companies Association and the RAB – which now form the RadioCentre – and is a fellow of the Radio Academy.
He takes up the non-executive position at Rajar following the retirement of Lord Gordon of Strathblane earlier this year.
Mansfield was approached for the role by Andrew Harrison, chief executive of the RadioCentre, and Jenny Abramsky, director of BBC Audio and Music and a Rajar board member.
“I’m aware of some of the issues and challenges that face Rajar and thought it would be an interesting role,” said Mansfield.
“As well as chairing board meetings, I will be involved in key decisions Rajar has to make and will work with Sally [de la Bedoyere, managing director of Rajar] to give her any support she may require.”
