GCap wields jobs axe at Gold Radio
GCap Media has started making job cutbacks just days after unveiling its new strategy, with the closure of the marketing and PR departments at Gold Radio.
According to one source, Gold Radio is to be "dramatically scaled down", resulting in several redundancies, including Grant Brookes head of marketing and partnerships and Fiona Sanders, head of press.
The station will remain operational via DAB, digital TV and AM for the "foreseeable future", said the source, adding that no decision has been taken on the station's future.
On Monday, GCap chief executive Fru Hazlitt announced plans to scale back its investment in Gold. She said: "We have decided to scale back our investment in Gold to a level that will allow us to sustain an on-air product that remains attractive to our listeners, but which reflects that it is broadcast mainly on the declining AM medium."
